ADAC Awards In-flight Catering to LSG Sky Chefs

Abu_dhabi_international_airport Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) and LSG Sky Chefs announced today that ADAC has awarded, subject to contract, a three year deal to LSG Sky Chefs for the management of its in-flight catering facilities at Abu Dhabi and Al-Ain International Airports.

This deal is the first of many initiatives ADAC is planning to introduce in the future to transform the existing Abu Dhabi Airport into a best-in-class facility that can effectively cater to the needs of the Emirate’s  prospective growth. Important milestones are the opening of the new Terminal 3 (due in mid-2008) with an additional capacity of 5 million passengers and the new Midfield Complex raising the airport’s annual capacity to 20 million passengers in 2010.

H.E. Khalifa M. Al Mazrouei, Chairman of ADAC said: “We are absolutely delighted to announce that the successful bidder is LSG Sky Chefs – a company whose reputation for quality, innovation and first-class food is certain to ensure that airline customers from and through Abu Dhabi will enjoy mouth-watering menus of truly world-class in-flight cuisine.”

Walter Gehl, LSG Sky Chefs Chief Executive Office added: “We are dedicated to making Abu Dhabi Airport Catering a first class airline catering facility in the Middle East and we are very excited about having a long lasting partnership with ADAC, Abu Dhabi and the region.”

The number of passengers at Abu Dhabi International Airport increased by 30 per cent achieving the milestone of more than 6 million from January til November 2007. Aircraft movement showed an uptrend of 8 per cent, having registered a total of 74,476 movements, compared to 68,920 in the same period last year.
