Southwest Declares Exit-Row Seats Off-limits To Pre-boarders

Southwest customers who take advantage of the airline's pre-boarding option are no longer eligible for exit row seats, part of a 2005 move by the carrier that seems to have drawn little previous attention.

The change could address complaints by some Southwest customers that some fliers pre-boarded on the basis of some infirmity, only with the intent of claiming a spacious exit row seat via Southwest's open-seating policy, Ben Mutzabaugh states on his "Today in the Sky" blog.
