Miles to Help - Miles for a Good Cause

070222_help_02 Anyone who collects bonus miles with Lufthansa's Miles & More can now also use them for a good cause and help people in need or support the protection of the environment. More than 25 million miles were already donated in the first few months since the start of the programme in November 2006.

As a result, it has been possible to provide medical care for over 12,000 children in India and more than 500 children in Latin America were able to remain with their own families thanks to a special family sponsorship programme of the SOS Social Centres.

A further example: thanks to the donated miles, 537,000 square metres of the rain forest in Pantanal in Brazil could be protected. That represents an area equivalent to around 60 football pitches. The good deeds are continuing: a couple of clicks on the Miles & More-website or a quick phone call are all it takes to be able to provide active support for one of three aid projects as part of Miles to Help:

HelpAlliance Lufthanseaten engagieren sich e.V. For seven years now, members of Lufthansa's staff have been helping to build orphanages, support schools and bush hospitals and care for street children. Or Living Lakes - for a green Earth. The name stands for the lake network of the international  Environment foundation Global Nature Fund. It campaigns for the preservation of natural waters and drinking water reserves for future generations.

The third project is SOS-Kinderdörfer. For more than 50 years, the social development organization has been looking after children and their rights. Never before has collecting miles given so much
pleasure. LUFTHANSA
