Asian Students Get Post-Graduate Education On Board a Ship
Asian university and prospective graduate students are invited to apply for The Scholar Ship, a 16-week graduate or post-graduate education program on board a ship that travels to five continents. The ship will set sail in September 2007, carrying up to 700 undergraduates and postgraduates from across the world.
It will depart from Pireaus, Greece and finish in Kobe, Japan. The second journey will begin in January 2008. Formal education and experiential learning are combined in this unique program.
If English is not a student's first language, minimum IELTS or TOEFL scores (or equivalent) will be required in order to evidence English proficiency. Macquarie University of Australia has been designated to award academic credit for successful completion of study aboard The Scholar Ship.
All students who successfully complete the program will also be issued official transcripts to assist them in seeking to transfer academic credit to their current university study in their home institution.
The Scholar Ship has partnered with a select number of leading, world-class universities to collaborate on the quality oversight and accreditation of all academic offerings and standards through its Consortium of Academic Stewards. The role of the Consortium is also to establish effective structures and mechanisms to monitor and promote standards of performance in teaching, learning, administration, and student support, says The Scholar Ship website.
Backed by Royal Caribbean Cruises, Ltd., The Scholar Ship is a specially-equipped full-service campus afloat that offers high quality social and living experiences to supplement classroom study onboard. Applications for the September voyage close 30 April 2007. THE SCHOLAR SHIP.
