Foodservice Trends Worldwide, 2006, Report Released
Between 2005 and 2010, Planet Retail estimates that global foodservice sales will increase, on average, by 6% annually to US$2,474 billion in 2010. According the recent report, Foodservice Trends Worldwide, 2006, growth in the industry will be driven primarily by increased outsourcing, more mobile lifestyles, economic recovery and more, albeit smaller, households underpinning an increase in restaurant visits.
Three regions are principally behind the growth, namely North America, Europe and Asia Pacific. Established markets in these regions will continue to show healthy growth rates, although the highest rate will be generated by new and emerging markets including BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China), the report summary says.
A truly global perspective of the HORECA sector, the study describes in detail the trends, strategies, main players and forecast food sales in each of the three main segments: restaurants, hotels and catering.
