Lufthansa Still Far Away from A Deal to Sell Stake in Thomas Cook

Germany's Deutsche Lufthansa is still far from reaching a deal to sell its 50-percent stake in tourism firm Thomas Cook to co-owner KarstadtQuelle, the airline said.

"Yes, there are discussions but they are a long way from being finished," Lufthansa board member Stefan Lauer told journalists at an event in Frankfurt late on Wednesday.

Lufthansa's new finance head, Stephan Gemkow, said at the end of July that the airline was in talks with Karstadt and that he could imagine reaching an agreement, though there was no time pressure on Lufthansa.
